4/16/10 3 3 3 always seems more interested in her animals and yard than you. seems distracted. no notes taken?? my family dr didnt get follow up letters.often cancels without notice. I drove along way to find her in her house telling me she took the day off.smart enough if you get her on a day she'd talk about you and not her dogs, trips etc. nees to pay more attention to her patients, not her friedns driving up or dogs barking. ok I guess, just not to prfessional for me

:) Click to report rating    3/7/10 5 5 5 I have weekly sessions, visiting the animals is aiding greatly to my recovery. My migraine headaches and depression lessen visiting with the animals. The one eyed horse now trusts me,comes and take food from my hand. The alpaca and I have developed a trust, at first the alpaca would not come for food now she comes right up to me.Daisy the star pig was intimidating but now I am able to feed her.The goats, sheep, the rabbits, cats and dogs all melt my heart and make me feel relaxed and comfortable.I come early many sessions just to hang with the animals as it makes me feel calmer and more relaxed for my sessions. They give me a feeling of worth, and make me laugh. They are teaching me to trust again. It is such a pleasure to arrive at Dr. Priest’s her animals sitting with tails wagging.I can not state how important these animals have become as a major part of my recovery process. It has helped immensely I am now able to deal better each day and I thank her and the animals.

:) Click to report rating    3/6/10 5 5 5 Dr. Priest has helped me to understand myself and to see how events in my life have affected me. Initially the meetings with Dr. Priest were weekly but now are monthly. I can clearly see how my life has changed in the past several years and it is in great part due to how Dr. Priest has helped me cope with my life and work towards resolving my personal issues. The atmosphere & environment and also the country/rural setting have made the sessions very comfortable and relaxing and puts me at ease right away. In all the sessions that I have had with Dr. Priest she has always had 1 or 2 of her care dogs and one cat and they have contributed in their own way as they are so friendly. The environment that Dr. Priest has enabled me to feel very relaxed and as of a result I feel very comfortable and able to discuss all aspects of my life with her. I still do have some personal issues to work on, it is the help that I have received from Dr. Priest that has got me where I am now.

:) Click to report rating    10/13/09 4 5 5 When i was referred to Dr, Priest i was at my wits ends.I simply did not know what the whole problem or what i was going to do.I knew i had been sick my whole life but every Dr. i went to said it was depression. However,i didn't go into alot of detail as you can't in a Doctors office.Finally....Finaly I spoke with Dr. Priest and within that appointment she had made a diagnosis and for the first time in my life i knew i wasn't crazy.I know this sounds funny but without her diagnosis who knows where i would be today. So Hats off to Doctor Priest...........

:) Click to report rating    10/5/08 5 5 5 Dr.Priest made an incredible difference in my life. I saw her when I was in my teenage years, and needless to say, life was difficult and I had a lot of problems. I had been put on a number of meds by different doctors, and I was suicidal and engaged in self harm. After seeing her for a year I was gradually taken off of medication, and taught better coping skills and the ability to live confidently and with joy. I've been medication and depression free for 8 years now, and I owe much of that to Vona. Dr.Priest may be seen as unconventional, but it is unconventional in a way that I really responded to. She really listens, but she also is quick to get to the root of issues.

:) Click to report rating    5/17/08 5 5 5 Dr. Priest's style of engagement with her clients maximizes positive outcomes with gentle caring, guided education and behavioral therapy. She provides a unique atmosphere conducive to the professional friendship she uses as an effective therapeutic tool. Her motivational style most certainly changed everything for me as my world seemed to be crumbling and no one seemed to be listening. Therapeutic styles vary as do the conditions requiring therapy. Dr. Priest's ability to offer a wide range of therapies and her successes in doing so are a tribute to her profession.

:) Click to report rating    10/31/07 5 5 5 I don't know where to start. Many years ago there was NO light at the end of the tunnel for me. Dr. Priest seemed to be the only person who had any "real" understanding of my condition. She is very patient and makes you feel comfortable. I find it hard to explain how helpful she has been to me throughout the years. Some doctors seem cold, and I can understand why, but Dr. Priest is warm, compassionate and non-judgmental. Mental challenges are invisible and most of your loved ones and friends wonder what your problem is. Dr. Priest is the only person I can tell things to about my disorder, and I am so very grateful to her for so very much over the years. I respect and admire her for who she is and how very helpful she is and thank her from my heart for bringing sunshine into my life to replace that very dark and scary tunnel. Thank you Dr. Priest. :o)

:) Click to report rating    9/7/07 5 5 5 I have received therapy from Dr. Priest for many years. And I find her progressive attitude toward therapy very helpful. I've never reached a stalemate with our sessions. She is also completley non judgmental, which I find very refreshing. Her intelligence and drive to always be on top of the latest expertise is inspirational. I also find Dr. Priest to be very sensitive and compassionate while still retaining strong boundaries. Her manner is never patronizing, always leaving me with a feeling of dignity. I continue my struggle with the faith I have in her to always talk me back to sanity.

:) Click to report rating    6/29/07 5 5 5 I have lived with depression for many years with each year being progressively worse. I was very nearly without hope and thought that I would have to struggle for the rest of my life in the darkness that surrounded me. My MD referred me to Dr. Priest and in her care I received hope for a better future, unclouded by fear and self doubt. I found this doctor to be personable and professional. The surroundings were welcoming and comfortable. Dr. Priest treated me with dignity and respect and as an individual. I found her to be intuitive and insightful. Thanks to her diagnosis and treatment; my gray world gradually gained colour and beauty and I began to realise how much I have to appreciate and to live for. I feel as if I have been given my life back. Thank you Dr. Priest.

I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar Mood Disorder & took meds for that condition for 8 yr. After seeing me for a short time she correctly diagnosed me with Toxic Anger Syndrome, & I am learning how to cope with this, & have become a happier, healthier & more confident person!

:) Click to report rating    5/17/07 5 5 I can not answer, (but I seem to HAVE to answer) the question "Knowledge" since I am in no position at all to rate her knowledge in her field -in Psychiatry, I must assume-; yet, as an ignorant patient I never had the feeling that she lacks any knowledge required for my visits or her consultations. The answer I gave in the respective field (knowledge) above is in the middle of the possible answers. I understand this as being NO ANSWER in that field by myself. A question: Do you pray to God (or god) would not be answered by myself either, since the terms "to pray" and "God" or "god" would have to be clarified to everyone's agreement. Dr. Priest gives me the impression of COMPETENCE, in the sense of radiating confidence, trustworthyness, kindness, helpfullness, itellectuell flexibility, tolerance, yet firm opinions where they are expected ....I can imagine that some or even many people may be tempted to put Dr. Priest into the category of "unusual physicians" She IS in a delightful way.

:) Click to report rating    5/14/07 5 5 I had been seeing counsellors for years before I was referred to Dr Priest. She was the first one who diagnosed me properly and set up a treatment plan that worked and was not based only on medications. Dr Priest has given me my life back! She has helped me develop into a healthy, functioning member of society. She has always shown deep compassion and understanding. Other psychiatrists I have seen approach things in a very clinical manner. Dr Priest's office and approach make you feel comfortable and secure. She has always gone above and beyond to be available in times of crisis. She has acted as an advisor to my employer to assist in their understanding of my condition. I have always known that she has my best interest at heart and truly cares. I have found Dr Priest to be up to date on medical research and development and she regularly attends professional development conferences/workshops. She interacts with patients in a very personal way while maintainint professional boundaries.

:) Click to report rating    5/12/07 5 5 In the 10 yrs I've been working with her, I've found Dr. Priest to be highly intelligent, genuinely compassionate, readily available, very encouraging, understanding, calming and most of all - not pretentious in the slightest. Her unique approach to the difficult aspects of the human condition always leave me feeling empowered , whole and peaceful. She truly cares about the well-being of her patients and believes in their success. I've learned so much about myself while working with her. She's helped me love & accept myself (pro's & con's) so that I've become a very happy person with a great sense of humour & much-improved coping skills, which makes life a whole lot easier! I have nothing but praise for this treasure of a woman whom the Cariboo is so very lucky to have in its midst! Those big-city Doc's don't have anything on her; in fact, they could learn a lot from her! She's a wealth of intelligence (intellectual & emotional) and best of all, she's real.

:) Click to report rating    5/11/07 4 5 Dr Priest has proven to be a life saver for my son, she has always demonstrated a strong knowledge of medications and has always offered solid information as to what she is treating. In accordance with that she has demonstrated an avalibility when needed. Given all of the above she is highly recommended by myself. She was able to reach a diagnosis quickly where other psychiatrist had failed I know with certianty my son would not be alive today had it not been for Dr Priest ability to reach and treat him during his crisis. As a result my son is a productive citizen in society and has fostered many qualities that would have been lost had she not been available to him.

:) Click to report rating    3/24/07 5 5 Dr. Priest is very easy to talk to, very compassionate, and she likes working with people rather than just consulting about them. Her skills are excellent, and she doesn't just push drugs at the patient, but rather works on the problems. She listens well to the patient's concerns and opinions, and is quite open-minded as far as alternate ideas are concerned.
